The Delmar Loop location of Chicken Out has closed

Chicken Out, the fast-casual fried chicken sandwich restaurant from the owners of Sugarfire Smokehouse, Hi-Pointe Drive-In and several other restaurants around the St. Louis area, has closed its location at 6197 Delmar Blvd., at the corner of Delmar and Skinker boulevards, as confirmed by a Sauce call to the Kirkwood location. Further requests for comment were not returned.

Originally opened in June of 2020 by Mike Johnson, Ben Hillman and Charlie Downs as their own take on fast-food fried chicken, Chicken Out features pressure-fried chicken on a succinct menu of sandwiches, tenders and salads. Chicken Out’s concept favors sustainable dining, with biodegradable or recyclable disposables and plant-based chicken options on the menu.

The Kirkwood location at 10463 Manchester Road, which opened in summer 2021, remains open, as well as the ownership team’s other restaurants which include multiple Sugarfire Smoke House locations across four states, several Hi-Pointe Drive-In locations across Missouri and Illinois, the Boathouse in Forest Park and Cyrano’s in Webster Groves.
