First Look: Rockwell Beer Co.'s new menu in the Grove

When news broke on Jan. 3 that Niche Food Group’s Brasswell would no longer serve as the food concept at Rockwell Beer Co. at 1320 S. Vandeventer Ave. in the Grove, some longtime fans of Brasswell were concerned the new concept might not be up to par. Luckily, the Sauce staff checked it out, and we’re pleased to report they’ve got some great new options available.

Longtime Rockwell employee Stephen Kovac is the new culinary director, who conceptualized the new menu with the help of his team. “Stephen has been running the kitchen at our Francis Park beer garden for a while and has been absolutely crushing it,” Dan Heaghney, director of operations at Rockwell Beer Co., said in a release. “In his new role, Stephen will be able to ensure we’re delivering high-quality food to pair with our handcrafted beers and extensive beverage programs at both of our locations.”

Brasswell fans will be glad to know the kitchen is keeping favorites like the smash burgers and chicken sandwiches, although they’re offering new versions of the old standbys. There’s a new veggie burger served on a gluten-free bun with lettuce, onions, pickles and red pepper "ketchup." There are also two new salads: the Gem with radish, cucumber, pickled red onion and Rockwell ranch; and the Caesar with chopped romaine, miso dressing and Parmesan cheese, both of which are fresh, light and generously dressed without overwhelming the other flavors. Don’t miss other fun shareables like pretzel bites, hummus, chicken wings and loaded fries such as the Llama fries with caramelized onions, gooey beer cheese and a heavy drizzle of garlic aioli.

Rockwell has also debuted a new catering menu, complete with appetizers, a slider bar and desserts. And, of course, don't miss the crowd-pleasing, rotating list of cocktails and beers on offer. Check out the slideshow below for a look at Rockwell’s new menu items.
